Michigan lawmakers have shown the ability to find bipartisan solutions to high water bills for the most vulnerable. We now have a chance to make protections for low-income residents more permanent.

Over $20 billion of investments in Michigan relating to EVs and solar panels are expected to add more than 13,700 jobs. But these opportunities may evaporate if investors stop trusting the U.S. government is as good as its word.

A simple legislative change to our tax code can help our residents, our small businesses, and ultimately, our communities.

"We have heard from thousands of workers across the state, many of whom are afraid to go to work and who do not feel their workplaces are ready for safe operation. We have heard from workers not being given masks. We know that no-touch thermometers for screening are scarce," these state senators write.

The virus does not have a race or ethnicity. We cannot let fear during this uncertain time turn people toward prejudice and hate.
