How to watch Gretchen Whitmer’s 2024 State of the State address

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is set to deliver her sixth State of the State address from the Capitol Wednesday night.
While last year’s speech came as Democrats held control of all three branches of government for the first time in 40 years, this year the dynamics may be different. Now that the state House of Representatives is temporarily deadlocked, the governor may need Republican support to reach her 2024 goals.

Where can I watch it?
The speech will be livestreamed starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Bridgemi.com as well as on YouTube, Facebook and on many local television stations.
Key issues
Viewers can expect to hear about education investments,affordable homes access, protecting seniors and economic development, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

Some recent developments that could be included in the State of the State address:
Education
In December, the governor created the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential or MiLEAP, which is aimed at helping gain access to affordable childcare and afterschool programs, making higher education more affordable and partnering with employers to create job opportunities for individuals earning a degree.
Seniors
The governor will also unveil, “Caring for MI Family Tax Credit”, a $5,000 tax credit for families to cover counseling, transportation and nursing services, according to her office.
Economic development
Michigan’s population has flatlined, as younger people are choosing to move to other states. In October, Whitmer announced a $20 million national marketing campaign to help fill job vacancies, grow the population and help grow the economy.
