Bridge Michigan seeks digital marketing, social media associate

The Center for Michigan, publisher of Bridge Michigan and BridgeDetroit, seeks a full-time Digital Marketing Associate to join our team to help support our civic mission and our growing team of talented journalists.

We have grown our staff size, readership, and membership program tremendously over the past few years and we seek an innovative person who can help define the next generation of growth. 

  • Have you built and optimized Google Ad campaigns? 
  • Do you know how to create a dynamic keyword ad using Google Ads? 
  • Have you created or tracked Google Analytics goals and conversions? 
  • Are you familiar with Data Studio? 
  • Do you have opinions about what makes a successful, professional Instagram or TikTok account?
  • Do you occasionally get lost in fascinating Tweet threads? 
  • Are you an informed news consumer? 

If you answered yes to even some of these questions, you may be the perfect candidate. We're open to candidates who are early in their careers yet are excited to build out these skill sets.

Both Bridge Michigan and BridgeDetroit are nonprofit news organizations, which means we use the best parts of legacy media but are not beholden to tradition. We seek to lift diverse, often ignored voices and cover the state in an equitable, nonpartisan manner that begins each story willing to be surprised by where it takes us.

As a nonprofit, we pride ourselves on being a newsroom that allows great ideas to flourish. We try to have a culture of ‘yes,’ and provide a nurturing environment that respects work-life balance and the trauma that sometimes comes with reporting. While there may be the occasional long day, we believe the best reporters have interests outside of journalism.

The position will be expected to work out of the Center for Michigan’s Ypsilanti office in a hybrid work-from-office/work-from-home environment, spending approximately 2-3 days a week in the office working with other Center staff. The position reports to the Center for Michigan’s Growth Strategy Director Bill Emkow.

The targeted compensation for this position begins at $45,000 annually. Benefits include medical, vision and dental insurance, 4-6 weeks of maternity/paternity/adoption leave, and a minimum three weeks paid time off per year, in addition to eight paid holidays.
